Cactus is committed to working with the global medical writing community to raise the level of professionalism in medical writing. The high standards we set and maintain in-house also project to the extended community. Some recent examples of our work in this area include:

• Our ISO 9001:2008-certified systems and processes allow us to provide high-quality services while adhering to high level of professionalism and efficiency.
• We have contributed to the development of the Drug Information Association (DIA) Special Interest Area Community’s (SIAC) Medical Writer Competency Model. This model will serve as a valuable hiring, training, and evaluation tool not only for medical writers but also for all those who are involved in hiring them.
• We worked with the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences to offer ELS certification examinations in India, where there is a fast-growing medical writing and editing community.
• We have been involved in several industry-specific conferences (American Medical Writers Association, Society for Technical Communication, International Society for Medical Publication Professionals, etc.). Our discussions and presentations at these conferences have covered various aspects of outsourcing medical writing services.

Our aim has always been to increase the shared level of understanding of medical writing processes and practices worldwide. Many of these initiatives have also helped us appreciate global issues and challenges, which, in turn, has led to an increased ability to build world-class delivery teams.
